Rev Dr Frog Orr-Ewing is a survivor of childhood and ministry-related trauma, and comes to the area of trauma-informed leadership with an integrated focus on helping leaders understand trauma, and helping those struggling in and through trauma to lead well. With a background in pastoral and missionary leadership since 2000, when he was ordained in the Church of England, he as an academic background in missiology and the arts.
He studied Theology at Oxford University, continuing with an MTh in Applied Theology, before continuing with a PhD from Kings College London. He has been a lecturer at a variety of Theological colleges and seminaries, including Wycliffe Hall, Oxford; and was Fellow in Mission at University of Winchester. He was curate of St Aldates church, Oxford; Vicar of All Saints, Peckham; Rector of Latimer Minster, Canon Theologian of Winchester Cathedral and currently holds a PTO in the Diocese of London.
Those who know Frog will quickly find the conversation turning to conservation and Stampwell Farm, a community agriculture farm and project on the outskirts of London which has been home to Latimer Minster since 2012. It is here with a deep appreciation of seasons and place that he has explored work with artists and clinical psychologists in using space and physical work as a therapeutic context for recovery from trauma, integrated with theology and the arts.
This love of agriculture and land stewardship sits alongside poetic and pastoral theological retreats and experiences for clergy and those in the caring professions.
So often those who care become wearied with the burdens and shocks they have carried for others, and need space, time and a place away from normal work to help them come to terms with new moments in their life.
Frog is Married to Amy, who is an author and public theologian and they have three sons.
